Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is TickerNews?

TickerNews is a free Android app that aggregates financial news about publicly-listed NYSE and NASDAQ companies. You follow the companies you care about, and we deliver a personalised news feed plus optional push notifications.

2. Where does the news come from?

We aggregate from 100+ established publishers, including Bloomberg, Reuters, CNBC, The Wall Street Journal, MarketWatch, Seeking Alpha, The Motley Fool, TipRanks, Simply Wall St, TradingView, Investing.com, Morningstar, Stock Titan, Trefis, GuruFocus, Benzinga, Zacks, Investopedia, and many more. Every article shows its source and links back to the original. See our Editorial Policy.

3. Is TickerNews free?

Yes — 100% free. No ads, no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no paywalls.

4. Does TickerNews give investment advice?

No. TickerNews is an informational news aggregator only. See our Disclaimer. Always consult a licensed financial advisor before making investment decisions.

5. How often is the feed refreshed?

Every 15 minutes in the background. You can also pull-to-refresh anytime. When you follow a new company for the first time, we fetch its news instantly.

6. Why am I not receiving push notifications?

  • Check that you've granted notification permission (Android Settings → Apps → TickerNews → Notifications).
  • Make sure you have at least one company followed — notifications are only sent for followed companies.
  • On some devices, battery optimisation may delay notifications. Add TickerNews to your device's "unrestricted background" list (Settings → Battery → Battery optimization).
  • Samsung / Xiaomi / Oppo often auto-sleep apps — mark TickerNews as "Do not auto-sleep".
  • If issues persist, log out and log back in to refresh your push token, or reinstall.

7. I opened an article and got a 404 error. Why?

Occasionally the original publisher takes an article down or moves it after we index its headline. If you see this repeatedly for a specific source, email us the headline at info@tickernews.live and we will investigate.

8. The article preview is blank / shows gibberish.

Some publishers (e.g., Wall Street Journal, Barron's) block automated content extraction. In those cases, tap "View Full Article" to open the publisher's site directly in the in-app browser.

9. How do I delete my account?

From inside the app: Profile → Delete Account. Or visit the Delete Account page. Deletion is permanent and affects all your data (profile, followed tickers, bookmarks, notifications).

10. I'm a publisher — how do I request removal of my article?

Please submit a DMCA notice via our Content Takedown page.

11. Is my data secure?

Yes. All traffic uses HTTPS / TLS. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Push tokens are encrypted at rest. We do not sell data and do not run advertising SDKs. See our Privacy Policy.

12. What exchanges are supported?

Currently NYSE and NASDAQ (USA), covering approximately 6,350 tickers. More exchanges (LSE, NSE, BSE, TSE) may be added later based on user demand.

13. I forgot my password.

On the login screen, tap Forgot password? — we'll email a reset link. If the email does not arrive within 5 minutes, check your spam folder or contact support.

14. Can I use TickerNews on iOS?

Not yet. An iOS version is on our roadmap but has no firm release date.

15. Can I suggest a feature?

Absolutely — email info@tickernews.live with the subject "Feature Request". We read every one.

16. Is there a minimum Android version?

TickerNews supports Android 7.0 (API 24) and higher. It is designed and tested for Android 10+ for the best experience.

17. How do I report a bug?

Email info@tickernews.live with the subject "Bug Report". Please include your device model, Android version, app version (from Profile → About), and steps to reproduce. Screenshots help a lot.
